David Carson lives on a small family farm, near Tapawera in the Motueka River Valley.
He is a self-taught artist using mainly materials sourced from his local environs. He processes with a minimalist approach, trying to reduce the steps from raw material to finished work. David is currently experimenting with bronze.
He has exhibited in a variety of exhibitions around NZ including Headland Sculpture on the Gulf in 2005 and 2013 and was also one of the artists in the ‘Sculpture in the Gardens’ exhibition at the Auckland Botanic Gardens in November 2017/2018. Many of his works can be viewed at the Hidden Sculpture Garden in Tapawera that he and his wife, Rachel, established on the family farm in 2005.
